A Detailed Detailing of Update 0.2.2

Alright alright, I've got another silly devlog filled with subheaders titled after music for you to go through. Let's get this thing started.

Better Living Through Chemistry Traveling

First and biggest thing in this update; the introduction of chapter 4. Not a full introduction, unfortunately. As I've yet to finish writing all of the Chicago area. Instead, you get to play chapter 4 from the start to around the midpoint, wherein the characters finally arrive at Chicago. Along the way you'll get some fun bits of dialogue in the car as the gang travels on the interstate. You'll also have some small instances of dialogue right before the road trip actually starts. Just some back and forth between the player character, Sasha, and Jacob, nothing huge.

Total time to play/read through all of that stuff? Probably around 20-30 minutes. This update adds around 10k words so there's definitely a decent amount of content to be had.

I don't know what else to talk about here so we're going to discuss what I liked writing the most in this update. And that would be... dialogue involving more than 2 characters at a time. A really revolutionary thing, I know. It's like Bethesda discovering that you can make companions that aren't cardboard cutouts when they made Fallout 4. Jokes aside, I am really enjoying the dynamics I can setup with this multi-character dialogue. Especially with the player character, Sasha, and Jacob. I've wrote quite a bit about how well these 3 get together, now I can really show that off.

Holly and Valery fit into this pretty nicely as well. Holly has known the player character since high school so she's already pretty familiar with them. Valery, well, he hasn't even known them for as long as Sasha or Jacob. So there's sort of 2 different dynamics going on there, which means two different things to write and explore. Fun. It'll also be fun seeing Holly and Valery slowly get to know and (maybe) become friends with Sasha and Jacob. Assuming of course you brought one of them along. Just lots of stuff on this road trip I'm looking forward to writing and seeing play out. Lots of potential, lots of stuff to write. Hopefully I don't squander that potential.

Calling all Yeens... Prisoner on the Loose, Description:

Pretty much the only other major addition in this update is artwork for Valery. Yeah, finally. Like, a month after I said I was going to get it done. Hey, I got to it eventually! That's my motto, I'll get to it eventually. Hasn't failed me yet.

If you're alright with seeing his artwork without playing through the game then click here and feast your eyes.

Honestly, my man looks like he should be touring with QOTSA, not going on a road trip with a bunch of losers.

Seriously though, this is a really great illustration of Valery by Kass. I never had a strong mental image of what Val looked liked. I just sort of had him as looking like a generic anthro hyena and that was that. But this... It's great. Just look at his mane/hair, I love how she drew it. And his expression, love it. Whole thing; love it.

So yeah, Valery as illustrated by Kass. He looks dope and she did a great job as per usual. Check her out if you haven't already. Here's her Twitter and Fiverr.

Mosquito Song

Closing out time. So, next update when? Well... I'm not really sure. July is slated to be a pretty busy month for me since I'm moving next month in mid-August and I kind of have to get all that stuff around. Honestly.... I'd say end of July into early August is when you can expect the next update. I'll have a better time frame later in the month so look for a devlog discussing update 0.2.3 "Chicago" maybe around the 15th of July.

Alright, think that's it. Until next time... comrades? friends? y'all? some other gender neutral address that isn't yinz? I think I'll stick to friends for now. Until next time, friends.
